Places of Interest

Stellenbosch is a vibrant coffee shop, café and restaurant town with over 47 cafes all pushing the boundaries of baking and coffee roasting. A weekly farmers’ market will give you access to fresh, locally grown produce.

The town is in the heart of the South African wine region with nearly 200 wineries.

The weather is Mediterranean type, with most of the rainfall usually coming in June, the hottest, driest month being January and the coolest, July.

For those who would like to combine training with adventure, 3YO will be able to organise outings such as visits to Table Mountain, whale watching, shark cage diving and wine tasting. If you wish to stay close to your training base, 3YO will arrange trips to the South African “braai” (The word braaivleis is Afrikaans for “roasted meat”),  local markets, your favourite cafés, breakfast or eatery spots.

A recent local initiative set up by Stellenbosch trail fund STF has created new and upgraded existing trails to make an extensive network of mountain biking trails. The trails range from moderate single trails to the more technical trails for the most experienced mountain bikers.

Comments:  10 Celsius & 70km/h wind in Geneva - makes one want to go to some sunny, warm place... Escape to South Africa for some cycling & running with Annchen Clarke (Kona World Championships finisher) and Bram Peereboom(MTB champ) - these two make the most amazing training camps! Top-notch coaching, assured security (in SA!) and a lot of extra attention: sharing with us a bit of their South African dolce vita (wine, wine and more wine!) <3 Dankie Annchen & Bram

Comments:  We were over from the UK and spent a great couple of days with 3YO training camps. Their training ground is stunning! They sorted all the bikes out for us so all we had to do was turn up! It was the perfect way to explore this beautiful country and get some hardcore run bike swim sessions in too.

Comments:  Annchen has been my coach now for a year and wow what a year achieves. It’s been an exciting, rewarding and educational journey and I have felt supported through everything. That final piece beyond just a training plan where coach Annchen takes the individual into account 'me' on my triathlon journey. I am in Ireland so don't let distance put you off when it comes to choosing your coach. I wish I could be there for more individual work and plan on doing so as soon as possible but the distance has never been an issue. I recommend 3YO.

Comments:  I'm an age-group triathlete from Canada and loved my experience training with 3YO! It was the perfect way to meet other athletes (local and international) and see stunning places that I wouldn't have found otherwise. The highlight for me was Friday evening swims at a gorgeous winery dam that the public doesn't have access to, and going for wine after! Great mix of safe, structured workouts and social events and a few touristy activities too, definitely recommend it.
