Dave rode track, TT and road events. He won the Amateur Tour of Switzerland in 1972 and in the same year was selected to ride 4 events at the Munich Olympic Games. A year later he won the 5,000 metre national pursuit title and set the national 50 mile road record. A heart problem brought early retirement in 1976 but after 3 years Dave was cleared to race again and in the next 4 years won over 120 races. Dave is a qualified ABCC coach and in 2012 became 1 of only 8 people to be awarded an Honoured Senior ABCC coach for his services to the Sport. He is a qualified Velodrome coach, taking individual and club sessions. Dave is also a qualified Derny Pacer. Dave took Wendy Houvenhagel from a track novice to the become National 3,000 metre Pursuit Champion & World Cup Champion in less than 12 months. Later Wendy became Olympic and World team pursuit champion. Outside of coaching Dave has been Team Manager of Continental Professional Teams and has worked for BC’s Talent Team in the WCPP scheme. Dave has also worked as a bike frame builder for 13 years so brings extensive bike knowledge. Apart from running training camps, Dave owns Dave Lloyd Complete Coaching which offers one-2-one personal coaching service. There is one level available to all. Initial Consultation and Physiological Testing £295 One to One Coaching £150 per month Subsequent RAMP tests/Appraisals £60 Supervised Bike Rides with Dave £40 an hour
