Places of Interest

Colonia Sant Jordi is a very quiet holiday resort, that was originally established in 1879 as an agricultural and fishing colony. For this reason many of the locals still consider this to be the "new town". Tourists first started to arrive in the late 1950's, and since then the town has undergone a steady but controlled growth.

The original fishing harbour still exists, and if you can get there early enough, at 9.30am everyday a small ferry sails for the short trip over to the island of Cabrera. This tiny rocky island, whose name translates into English as "Goat Island", measures only 4 miles x 3 miles, was designated a National Park in 1991.

Training Facilities

50 metre outdoor pool 10 lane

Can be set as 25m if required

Teams who have trained here include Team GB, Spain, Germany, Finland and Luxembourg. There have been club teams from across the UK, Ireland, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, France, China and Canada

The pool is 50m x 25m x 2m and can be configured to meet the needs of one or more polo teams.

Lanes can be removed quickly for water polo teams to train extended hours during the day.

Open Water Swimming

As well as the outdoor 50m pool at the BEST Centre, there are miles of sheltered, calm open water swimming off the beaches of the town.

There are plenty of markers over different distances to practise finding the right lines and for turning practise.

The beaches and sea are all easily accessible from the hotels.

Around Colonia Sant Jordi is some superb running. There are trails through the woodland behind Es Trenc Beach in 3.4km, 4.4km, 6.4 and 8km loops, as well as measured-distance flat runs on the quiet roads outside the town. But nothing is better than running along the wide, coastal pathways looking across the water to the island of Cabrera.

Comments:  Super 50-meter pool with salt water (not very salty). Very good water quality. Very nice staff (Lauren! ). Price for individuals 50.- € / week. Negative: when only one lane open, e.g. rented by a club. Then it must be a registered as a public lane, otherwise you can possibly Not swim because everything is full (March 2017). I'd go back.

Our swimmers had a great time and they thought the pool facilities were very impressive. It was the first time on swim camp for many of the swimmers and they really made the most of the experience.

Comments:  My son had an excellent week of training by a former commonwealth swimmer which was an excellent experience as his times and techniques have improved. Only fault found was with the showers which were slow, but since we were staying nearby, it was not an issue. The centre is at the edge of the quiet resort of Colonia de St Jordi with a good variety of restaurants, hotels and apartment acccomodation nearby.

Comments:  Excellent swim centre for budding swimmers ! My 2 kids stayed for 1 week beg of August aged 11 and 8. Both had a fab time, taking part in not only the swimming, but also the beach biathlon, beach games, table tennis tournement, football games and quiz night ! Mixure of children from not only the UK, but also Canada, France and Brazil to name a few ! They loved the coaching (Pat, Kati and James) and hopefully have picked up some good tips to improve on their times when we start the upcoming swimming season. Brilliant holiday - fabulous weather, excellent facilities and hotel - will definately be back !!! (Even us parents managed to get fit with the odd dip in the 50 mtr pool and parents biathlon) !!
