Introduction

Adam Walker offers open water swimming training camps and 1:2:1 coached sessions aimed at improving your stroke efficiency and speed in long distance swimming.

The name of Adam's company, Adam Walker Ocean 7, comes from his goal of being the first British swimmer to complete 7 long distance swims; Irish Channel, the Cook Strait, the Molokai Channel, the English Channel, the Catalina Channel, the Tsugaru Strait and the Strait of Gibraltar.

"Adam's gruelling 17 hour swim was a true inspiration... what a fantastic effort!"
by Mark Foster, Olympic swimmer, winner of 6 World Championship titles and 10 European titles.

"The 7 Oceans Challenge is one of the most formidable physical challenges. Taking on the most iconic, arduous and dangerous open water swims on the planet, Adam is an inspiration to us all and demonstrates that with hard work, determination and an iron will; anything is possible."
by Professor Greg Whyte OBE (services to sport, sport science and charity), Double Modern Pentathlon Olympian, Professor in Applied Sport & Exercise Science, author of Exercise Physiology and personal trainer to celebrities who want to complete challengers for charities such as Sport Relief.

Comments:  This course is more than good value, it's life changing. Adam puts maximum effort into ensuring you grasp the principles of his technique and goes above and beyond what he needs to do. After a teenage competitive swimming career and a long time away from swimming I am a total convert to this technique. It's graceful and efficient and it puts less pressure on your shoulder tendons. I needed the full 5 days to master this technique and continue to improve back home. The location in Turkey and the Turkish people were amazing . So glad I did it

Comments:  I did the 5 day open water swim course in Malta with OceanWalker. I signed up to help me overcome my open water swimming fears. I swim open water but constantly worried about the unknown. I also learned the Adam Walker swimming technique helping me to be more efficient in the water. The program including the nutrition coaching, technical swim sessions, and the support /motivation during the sea swims made for a most informative/awesome swim camp. I can't wait to do it again. I did my first 4hour10minute open water swim!!! Thanks to Adam and Gemma!!

Comments:  It was really helpful to have each of the swims videoed and then reviewed, helping to show our progression during the day. I went away with lots of drills to practice and have stuck with it to develop a much more relaxed front crawl stroke - Adam Walker style! No more aching neck and shoulders during long swims! The other participants were friendly and it was great to meet people with similar interests. I would definitely recommend this training camp to anyone interested in improving their swimming style. Thanks Adam, Gemma and the team for providing such a fantastic experience!!

Comments:  Lately I have been doing 5k lake swims and have compared before the course and after the course splits. The difference is remarkable. Average before was 31. Average yesterday was 24. I have made no attempt to go fast, just attempted to make small gradual changes. To say I'm pleased is an understatement, absolutely delighted would be more appropriate. So thank you Adam and Gemma!

Comments:  Brilliant day at Chelsea in March 2016. I came away with a new enthusiasm and passion for swimming having recently become frustrated with my lack of progress. Immediate results on the day reduced from 17/18 strokes per 25m to 15 ... and then 14 during my first session after the camp! Still much work to do but the camp gave me a clear framework for self diagnosis of problems. Thanks Adam and Gemma for an inspiring day

Comments:  I highly recommend Adam’s swim stroke master class. It was a great day at Oaklands Community Pool (Southampton), and it has provided me with a whole new set of swim challenges. I am an enthusiastic but self-taught swimmer. I can see how effective and fluent Adam’s stroke is and how it spares the shoulders. I am a long way off changing my current ‘flat’ stroke to the smooth ‘tip the hips; keep the head still’ stroke but the day in the pool with Adam and Gemma, and the other encouraging fellow swimmers has helped me on my way. I was also delighted to receive a copy of the video clips of my swimming with the ‘overlays’ so that I can compare what I do and need to do. Thanks very much. It may take me some time to get there, but I look forward to the challenge of changing my stroke.

Comments:  I always thought I should be a better swimmer than I was. At the beginning of the year I signed up for a triathlon and upped my training. Whilst at my local pool, someone told me about Adam Walker I looked at his stroke on YouTube. It looked so smooth and effortless that I booked a days course. What I found is that Adam and Gemma are so passionate about this technique that you cannot be anything else but motivated by them. They have the answer to so many swimmers problems. A week after the course, after practicing the stages, I swam at my open water club. Although I'm not the finished article, I started to swim how I always wanted to. I was faster and I was using less energy which was noted by a number of people at the club. I've booked myself in for the Coniston end to end in September but I'm thinking now "is this long enough" Thank you so much Adam and Gemma

Comments:  I attended a September 2014 Lake Windermere swim camp which had been changed from a two day camp into a longer one day camp due to Adam and Gemma being let down at the planned venue. This did not distract from the camp at all, I had a fantastic day and met loads of great friendly like minded people. The camp input and facilities were superb along with the buffet and endless tea and coffee! Throughout the day we had three open water swims in the beautiful Lake Windermere which were all videoed and critiqued afterwards. I went to the camp with my 40 year old front crawl stroke and came away with an all new "Adam Walker" stroke which I have worked on since and also had a follow up 1-1 session with Adam. A few years ago I had operations on both my AC joints on my shoulders and this stroke seems to put no pressure on them at all! All in all a fantastic day which I would fully recommend, thanks "Oceanwalkeruk"

Comments:  I attended the Lake Windermere Camp in September. The venue was superb with ample parking, great changing facilities and lovely food (boy was I hungry after 3 swims in the lake!). Comments:  The one day technical open water swim camp was absolutely excellent! Adam and Gemma were fantastic coaches in teaching the Ocean Walker Technique and broke the new technique down into small individual stages. A great day that was really useful in teaching me a more efficient and smooth stroke. I would thoroughly recommend this camp even for someone like myself who has not been swimming long. Many thanks Adam and Gemma.

Comments:  A very useful and interesting training day with the legendary Adam Walker and his lovely partner Gemma. My swimming had been going quite well, however I thought it would be worth going to this course to receive tuition from the master of endurance swimming! Although I didn't wear a wetsuit, I'd say don’t be ashamed to wear one if you’re not acclimatised - as Adam and Gemma suggest - it does get cold when you’re not moving. Adam & Gemma were very conscientious, friendly and patient in their tuition and gave plenty of 1 to 1 coaching. The Ocean Walker Stroke was broken down into helpful steps. I made good progress on the day and the links to Adam's video demonstrations will help me to practice the stroke further and master it. It's great to have the option of using The Ocean Walker Stroke in my future swimming and I'm sure it will prove very beneficial. Adam was also good at answering all my questions I had about channel swimming etc and gave uplifting guidance!

Comments:  The one-day clinic with Adam in Wanaka was great! Having only been swimming for 3 years, I'd been struggling with finding a technique that worked for me. I'd been reading and hearing about different techniques that worked for different people, and had tried to cobble bits and pieces from all of them to see what worked, but not really getting anywhere! It was great to attend Adam's clinic and find a simple and cohesive technique that works to, not only preserve my shoulders, but adds speed with efficiency, is more relaxing, and conserves energy. I've thrown away all the other bits and pieces that I had put together these last few years, and am now just concentrating on Adam's technique. I've still got a long way to go, but I feel that I have a good platform to work from. I also really enjoyed Adam's teaching style. He is a real pleasure to spend time with.
