The Farmhouse (Sleeps 17): Self-catering 15C farmhouse near Lake Vyrnwy in a stunning mountain setting. Evenings by a log fire, or look 15 miles down the valley from the Hot Tub...

The accommodation comprises of a well equipped kitchen with an Aga cooker, Dining Room, Music Room with a piano and hi-fi system, Lounge with board games, Breakfast Room with views down the valley and Laundry (which was the Buttri; a room to make butter). Upstairs there are 6 bedrooms sleeping 2 to 6 people as well as a south facing conservatory.

The Barn Hall (sleeps max 15): The mediaeval Barn Hall has been painstakingly relocated and restored to increase the sleeping capacity. Stained glass windows from Westminster Abbey and a wood burning stove give this Hall real character.

The Bunkhouse (Sleeps 8, max 12): Self-catering, luxury Bunkhouse in a stunning mountain setting which has a well-equipped, modern kitchen, a wet-room with 2 large showers and sleeping quarters consisting of bunk beds. The Old Treehouse (Sleeps 2): Luxury Treehouse looking 15 miles down the Tanat valley with a small kitchen equipped with gas hob, microwave, fridge etc, a wetroom, a double bed bedroom, MP3 player and Wi-Fi system. The outside space includes a pretty covered courtyard and lower decking for lying in the sun.

There is a village shop for provisions.

Training Facilities

Lake Vyrnwy is a reservoir which is about 8km long and over 1km wide. This is ideal for winter and Easter training but has also been used by Universities for their pre Henley Royal Regatta camps.

There is a boathouse with some changing rooms and facilities where you can make and eat tea, coffee and snacks between sessions. Adjacent to the boathouse, you will find safe parking areas for your trailers. Most boats will be left on the trailers or trestles.

Swimming; Lake Bala, which has hosted the Wales Triathlon for Open Water Swimming or Lake Vyrnwy, which is closer.

Cycling; you can bring your road bike or a Mountian Bike for something a bit different. The roads are very quiet with very small numbers of cars and some challenging passes over 1,000 feet high.

Running; the area offers great trail running routes or if you want to stay on the tarmac, the roads being so quiet offer a variety of routes.

There is a good library of cycling and running routes available on the Farmhouse in Wales website or Eddie & Jenny would be able to help you with local routes/maps

This is great Road and Off-road cycling country.

Off-roading: You can go trail riding over the Bwlch y Groes and the Hirnant Pass or you can try Downhill Biking at the Revolution Bike Park in Llangynog where the Red Bull team have trained. If you would like to hire off-road bikes, Eddie & Jenny are happy to arrange the delivery of quality bikes to your accommodation.

Road Cycling: This is an area which hosts the Snowdonia Etape Eryri, an event described by Team Sky Team Principal, Dave Brailsford as "Anybody who's thinking about doing any event should come down here and do this one - it's absolutely fantastic."

Dave Brailsford knows this area only too well as he grew up in this region. He said “It’s such an invigorating place; I never leave without feeling better than I did when I arrived. Growing up, these routes were the ones which I liked to ride; the road, the climbs, the beautiful blend between the sea and mountains. These were the ones that inspired me.”

You can vary your cycling terrain to match your cycling training needs. This region has also been used for many of the recent Tour of Britain cycling races.
