Summary

Introduction

Echos Sports, based in Brive, the French region of Limoges, has been set up by Charlotte Blon to organise training camps and sporting activity holidays for individuals, clubs and businesses. They can help with many of the practicalities of a training camp, including transport from the airport, launch hire and rowing boat hire.

Brive, also known as "Little Lucerne", has one of the most beautiful rowing lakes in France and regularly holds International and National competitions. For rowing; The World University Games in 2004 and World Junior Championships in 2009 as well as the French National Championships. For canoeing; Selection regattas for the French International team.

Athletes can stay on site in chalets right on the lake front with a central canteen restaurant that offers full board.

Other activities include Triathlon, Cycling, Athletics, Paddle Boarding, Orienteering, Rafting, Tree Climbing and Hiking.

Accommodation

On Site accommodation consists of chalets housing 4 or 5 athletes which are located on the lake's shore. Each chalet has its own small fridge to keep milk, drinks, and other provisions. In total there is accommodation for up to 220 people on site.

There is an on site restaurant, La Table du Lac, a few metres from the accommodation and you can choose between full and half board. The staff recognise the needs of training athletes so prepare meals accordingly. If you need extra provisions there are supermarkets about 10-12km from the lake.

Places of Interest

There isn't much to do at the site nor in the immediate location except enjoy its natural beauty.

Brive is 60 miles south of Limoges. Bordeaux is approximately 2 hours by road to the west of Brive.

Training Facilities

Rowing

The lake is 2,200metres long and in it is set a 2,000 metre international standard course. Most of the time it has 2 lanes, but this is extended so it has 6 lanes with 500 metre markers during competition period, April to June.

There is a 7km road around the lake which can be used to follow the boats but is not recommended for coaching. Launches can be hired; they are good quality and their wash disperses quickly.

Boat racking is available & there may be an opportunity to hire boats.

Teams who have used this venue;

French National Team, Marlow RC, Shrewsbury School, Wallingford RC

Canoeing

The lake is around 2200m long and within that is set an international standard 2km course.  This always has 2 lanes, but from April to June it is brought up to the full 6 lanes, with markers at every 500m.

There is a road around the lake, but it is not recommended for coaching.  However Echos Sport have available 6 catamarans and 3 single hull coaching launches, whose wash disperses quickly for minimal disruption.

 Outdoor boat racking is available.

Triathlon

As well as the natural facilities of the beautiful lake for swimming and local routes on road and path for cycling and running, Brive offers a running track and a brand new 50m swimming pool at a distance of about 10km from the lake.

Launches can be hired to act as safety boats for open water swimmers.

Athletics

This is an area of enormous natural beauty and the many running routes will showcase this.  Brive hosts a 24hour ultra marathon.

In addition there is a running track in the city itself, about 10km from the lake.

Cycling

MTB and Road

The centre does not have a route library but here are some suggestions, route your ride or interesting climbs. Roads are generally quiet and in good repair and the countryside beautiful.

Gym

The gym is small (capacity 15 people), but clean and light. There are some loose weights, some machines including 3 ergos.
