Introduction

The Sporthotel Villaconcha by Hoposa is ideally located in Puerto Pollensa to take advantage of the training facilities in northern Mallorca; the varied cycling terrain, the numerous running trails and the Open Water swimming opportunities.

The hotel has a heated, 25 metre, 6 lane swimming pool equipped with the latest video and video analysis technology. Other key on-site training facilities include a specific transition practice area and a hypoxic chamber to simulate training at altitude.

The hotel has a fully staffed on-site bike shop with a team of mechanics for bike rental and bike repairs. Coaching is also available in the pool with the staff qualified in the use of the video technology to help you improve your technique across all swimming strokes.

This is a hotel that combines sports with family and is suitable for people of all ages; from children to grand-parents. The hotel offers entertainment for your children whilst you complete your training.

Sporthotel Villaconcha by Hoposa was refurbished in late 2015, early 2016 specifically for the sports market. The swimming pool, bike storage areas, bike shop, gym and wellness centre have all benefited from the works carried out. The alterations have helped the hotel to become one of the fastest growing sports destinations.

During March, April, May, October and November, Sporthotel Villaconcha by Hoposa concentrates on Cycling and Triathlon whilst the remainder of the year the hotel is for family holidays.

Training Facilities

Swimming

Main Pool: Heated, 25mts with 6 lanes. This pool is fitted with underwater video and video analysis equipment which is operated by the hotel's qualified staff. With the addition of above water video, the coaching staff will help improve your swimming technique and you will see your improvements throughout your stay.

Because of the pool's size, only guests who are over 16 years can use this facility. However, at non-peak times, the hotel's swim coaches do offer learn to swim lessons for people of all ages.

Other pools include a child's water park for families.

Open Water Swimming: You can safely use the secluded bay at Puerto Pollensa which is used for the world recognised Mallroca Ironman event.

Cycling

Cycling Opportunites: Sporthotel Villaconcha by Hoposa is very close to the the foothills of the Tramuntana mountain range. This location is perfect because it gives you the opportunity to balance your cycling training through easier or more challenging terrain depending on your training needs.

This varied terrain is one of the main reasons why so many professional cycling teams base their pre-seaon and off-season warm weather cycling camps in this region. Teams like Team SKY, Lotto Belisol, Movistar Team and Kathusa Team have all based their camps here for many years.

Cycling Routes: The hotel offers detailed maps and their trained staff will help with these, recommending suitable routes for your day's training and possible cafes along the way.

Secure lock-up: The hotel has racks for 170 bikes and also has some individual bike cages, all within a secure bike storage area which is monitored by security cameras and 24 hour supervision.

There are lockers for individual use, washer/dryer equipment to keep your training clothes fresh and a bike cleaning area.

Bike Hire & Bike Shop: You can hire direct from the hotel's bike shop from their range of Wilier and Ridley bikes. The shop is manned by a team of fully trained mechanics who can help with your bike set up and any repairs.

Running

You have a great selection of running routes; across sandy beaches, over asphalt along the promenade or on dirt trails taking you inland to more undulating terrain. These dirt tracks would take you through vineyards, almond tree orchards, the UNESCO Serra de Tramuntana and the Natural Park Albufera de Mallorca.

Detailed running routes are available at the hotel and are fully explained by the coaching staff.

Gym

Gym: This has strength training equipment with sufficient space for a maximum of 15 people. There is also additional space, if you would like to take your training outdoors.

There is a hypoxic chamber to simulate training at altitude.

Comments:  ’ve just returned today from a one week stay with my partner and (almost) 2 year old son. It was absolutely fantastic! Partner loved the sports element; great gym at the hotel and lots of flat, scenic running / cycling routes in the area. Very child friendly for our son who thoroughly enjoyed the four pools (including children’s splash pool with slides), park and soft play. The hotel also provides children’s plates and cutlery etc which is very useful; as well as the fridge and microwave in the rooms for snack times. Extremely close to the beautiful beach (2 minute walk) where there are other children’s play areas. The resort itself is a lovely place to be with an abundance of restaurants and shops. We really enjoyed our stay here and would fully recommend to others. We hope to come back in the future, as we enjoyed it so much! Thanks to the staff for a lovely stay, they were all very professional throughout.

Comments:  What a great hotel! We really enjoyed te nice, friendly and helpful people in the hotel (including the guests), the big room (very nice and clean, with good beds, only the small steps in the room are a bit dangerous ;-)), the spa, the luxurious bike garage (clean, with lockers, washing machine, tools and free water for the drinking bottles), the 'sport atmosphere' (no drunk, noisy people in the night), the swimming pool and the food (especially breakfast). I'm sure I will be back, maybe later this year or in spring 2018! Thanks a lot!

Comments:  Great place to base yourself for triathlon training. Specific 25m training pool along with the usual leisure pools for the kids. Secure bike garage with tools and bike hire if you dont take your own and within 8 or so miles you can be climbing up epic mountain passes ! We stayed half board and plenty of food choice and the upgraded rooms were very modern looking as well as functional. Staff were very friendly and couldnt do enough for us especially the kids. Brilliant. Will be back next year for more of the same.

Comments:  This hotel is perfectly situated to make the most of fantastic bike rides in the region. The bike garage facility at the hotel is well equipped and secure and the swimming pool great for fitness training. When you are not cycling this is a great place for walking and exploring nearby towns.

Comments:  We would highly recommend these self-catering apartments. Spotlessly clean, well equipped. Friendly staff. Amazing Olympic swimming pool/smart and well equipped gym. Although we travelled without our children we would recommend this hotel for families too, assuming the family rooms were on one level if one had small children (ours was split with the bedroom and bathroom upstairs and the kitchen/lounge and balcony downstairs with fairly steep stairs, not a problem for us). We always found sun loungers available around the pool area even though we weren't up really early and the loungers were relatively comfortable. Not sure if there's enough for school hols though, no idea if hotel was full when we were there? Well kept, tidy pool area and attentive staff.

Comments:  Stayed here in April 2016 on a cycling break with friends. We were in the main building and our rooms had been fully renovated. Our room had a kitchen separate bedroom with twin beds and a sofa bed. The sofa bed could sleep 2 adults comfortably (the underneath pulled out as a separate bed). The hotel boats a 25m 6 lane pool as well as the leisure pools. Excellent bike garage and bike shop. All staff friendly and excellent service. Will definitely go back next year. Only a short walk to the beach, bars, restaurants and convenience shops. The hotel does have its own restaurant with buffet style service.

Comments:  We have just returned from a one weeks half board stay at the Villa Concha and cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The room was spacious and newly refurbished. Bright and airy. The kitchen area was fully equipped including washing up liquid and T-towels - nice touch. Large walk in shower was fantastic. We were staying in room 256 which was on 2nd floor overlooking the pool and above the restaurant area. This was probably in one of the noisier areas of the hotel but really didn't bother us. The hotel was very clean with an army of cleaners working hard throughout the day and the reception/restaurant staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. I was impressed with the variety of the food on offer for breakfast and dinner and didn't get bored with the selection. The location of this hotel is perfect. A short walk (5mins) to a lovely sandy beach and a further 5 minutes to a variety of restaurants and marina. This is the perfect hotel to fully relax and unwind. We will return. My only slight criticism was the intermittent wifi within the room but this is being very picky. It seemed to work fine around the reception area. The kids loved this holiday and want me to book next year . https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g1028722-d290454-r403813609-Hoposa_Hotel_Apartments_Villaconcha-Port_de_Pollenca_Majorca_Balearic_Islands.html#

Comments:  We spent a week here as a base to go cycling on the island from, and the hotel certainly did not disappoint. The apartment we booked was well suited to our needs with the extra space as opposed to a hotel room. A small, well equipped kitchen area with a decent sized open plan dining and lounge area was definitely appreciated whilst the bedroom and bathroom were equally well equipped and of a good size.

Comments:  I've been here twice now on cycling holidays & can't recommend it highly enough. The hotel itself is reasonably standard as hotels go, but it comes into its own with its cycling facilities. The secure garage is great, with multiple lockable racks for storing your bike (bring a small padlock of your own), lockers to keep your shoes, helmet etc in, water coolers to fill your bottles up, track pumps, and an extensive tool rack to tinker with your bike or reassemble it if you're bringing your own. The breakfast is more than adequate in the mornings for filling your legs up before you head up into the mountains each day too. The staff are helpful and friendly whenever you need their help. The refurbishment over the coming winter should make this place even more appealing to cyclists.

Comments:  I've just returned from the Villaconcha & was very pleased with my stay there. I was cycling there (I'm a triathlete), the location is superb and the addition of the secure bike garage was great (with lockable racks for your bike, water coolers to fill your bottles up, track pumps, tools and a washer/dryer to keep your clothes fresh). There is also a bike shop within the hotel for bike hire or for any bit & pieces you may have forgotten to bring with you (sports drinks, gels, tubes, etc). The lap pool was very good (good temperature too for October) and at €1 for an hour, it was very reasonable. I explored the local area with some runs but you really can't beat just running on the sea front! The staff are very helpful and friendly, especially Alex on reception.

Comments:  This was our second family trip to Puerto Pollensa and as my husband is a keen cyclist we opted again for one of the Hoposa chain due to cycling facilities (last year we were at the Daina). The staff at the complex were all very helpful and friendly. We cannot fault the cycling facilities on site - bike hire, lock up, washing machine and tumble drier, water dispenser. Location wise it was about a 10-15 minute stroll along the seafront in to the main square which was our preferred choice for dinner. The apartments were in a residential area so no noise at night. The pool area in the complex was fabulous - various toddler pools and a water slide area. There were also some other extras like a small play park and a bouncy castle which went down well with our toddler. We ate in the snack bar once and the food/service was very good. We were SC in the apartments but chose to have breakfast one morning and food one evening - plenty of choice, everything very fresh. We loved the layout of our one bedroom apartment (ground floor, overlooking the water slide area) - good size rooms and quite nice to have the kitchenette facilities separate. However, as many other reviewers on Trip Advisor have mentioned the decor of the rooms really is tired and is in desperate need of an upgrade. It looks like work has already started on the rooms as I had a peek at some of the newly refurbished ones and they do look lovely. If they refurbish them to the standard of sister hotel the "Daina" then I am sure they will be fabulous. Despite the room not being quite up to scratch it would not put us off returning as all of the other elements meant we had a great holiday.
