Summary

Introduction

Girona was made famous by the arrival of Lance Armstrong and the US postal team in the late 1990s. Now Girona is the home of about 65 other professional cyclists.

However, Girona offers more than just great cycling terrain. There is a 400m, 8 lane athletics track, a 50m swimming pool (with retractable roof) and access to a safe open water swimming venue used for ITU events only 25km away.

You can either venture out on your own or join other cyclists in the central square close to the cafés. Your group may include some of the cyclists who appear in the classic Tours. Now Garmin have their service course in the city.

Girona is only a short distance from the International airport used by low cost airlines. Barcelona is less than 1 hour away and can be reached by road or train.
