England have made Chantilly their home base for UEFA Euro 2016. The base is 25 miles from Paris and within easy reach of the Charles de Gaulle airport.

The hotel they hand picked is the 5* Auberge de Jeu de Paume which is adjacent to one of France's most famous horse racing courses. The hotel is less than 600metres from the Château de Chantilly, once owned by Coutts Bank, and the home of villain Max Zorin in the James Bond movie A View to a Kill. More recently, Ronaldo married Daniela Cicarelli there in 2005, so Wayne Rooney may find himself on familiar territory.

The 92 bedrooms offer various degrees of comfort, all having 18th-century décor with views either of the garden, the patio or the town. There is a spa which offers an indoor pool, sauna, Turkish bath and various other treatments.

The restaurants will be supervised by the FA’s Chef, Tim De’arth. Tim has overseen the team’s eating for some years and over this time the current meal plans have evolved.

The players will have 5 meals a day; breakfast, lunch and evening meals supplemented with after morning training food of fruit and protein-based snack and late afternoon snacks which are again protein based including such things as spinach chicken wraps, sushi, sashimi and dark & white chocolate pieces. If this is not sufficient, there is the all-day snack station of cereals, toast and jams.

The English Tea Rooms in Chantilly ....

If the players are still looking for something like home, they could venture into Chantilly to find the Chantilly Tea Rooms. The town also gave its name to Chantilly cream and Chantilly lace.

The players will be training at the Stade des Bourgognes, the home of US Chantilly, a local amateur team. A new pitch was laid under the supervision of 2 English groundsmen aiming to replicate those pitches England will be playing on throughout the tournament.
