Cycling Coaches

  • Andy Cook is a lifelong cyclist, a National medallist and record holder, having represented Great Britain in the past. A well respected coach, he has organized and coordinated training camps for over 25 years. Andy has a very broad range of cycling experience which he is happy to share with all bike week participants in order that they improve their own training and technique, along with their overall enjoyment of riding the bike. Andy is a former president of the UCI “Cycling for All” commission and currently a member of the UCI "Mass Participation" commission.  He has also held senior positions at both British Cycling and the Cyclists Touring Club (CTC).
  • Dave rode track, TT and road events. He won the Amateur Tour of Switzerland in 1972 and in the same year was selected to ride 4 events at the Munich Olympic Games. A year later he won the 5,000 metre national pursuit title and set the national 50 mile road record.
  • Dr Jonathan Baker's academic research has focused on the physiological determinants of endurance performance; and in particular the dynamic control of muscular energetics during exercise and how these processes influence high-intensity exercise tolerance.
  • Gareth started running at age 11 and after an injury moved to cycle racing at 16. He has raced throughout Europe, Australia and the USA on the road, the velodrome and in mountain bike events. He has represented his country in duathlon and triathlon at age group level. Gareth is an expert cycling coach, bike set up guru, a Level 2 Triathlon Coach and a qualified first-aider.
  • Gary has competed and coached at the highest level and has developed many innovative techniques to improve your cycling performance.
  • Hana has been racing elite triathlon since 2003, achieving over 50 podium finishes and completing two World Championship in Kona. Hana began her triathlon life with sprint and Olympic distance events before tackling her first half Ironman which she won.
  • Heather is a qualified BTF coach and is passionate about triathlon and helping athletes of all abilities achieve their goals. As an athlete she was based at various high performance centres including Loughborough and Leeds and competed in elite races around the UK and numerous European Cups. More recently she completed her first long distance event in just over 10 hrs.  
  • Jason has competed in Triathlon's from Sprint to Ironman distance and as a GB age group triathlete including a top 20 finish in the European championship, holds coaching qualifications in Cycling, Athletics and Triathlon
  • Jim is a qualified British Cycling Coach, an advanced Personal Trainer, gym instructor and spinning coach. 
  • Lars started his professional riding career in 2002 with Team Fakta. He has ridden for Team CSC, in Mark Cavendish's sprint train whilst at HTC-Columbia before joining Lotto-Belisol in 2012. Lars has won 4 Danish Championship titles and two stages in each of the Vuelta a España and Giro d'Italia.
  • Magnus Bäckstedt won in 2004 the Paris Roubaix, which is probably his biggest victory. Apart from that he also won a Tour de France stage in 1998. He retired from professional cycling in February 2009 but has come back to professional cycling and has run his own team for 4 years.
  • Marijn de Vries is a Dutch professional cyclist and journalist .
  • Martin has been coaching for over 25 years and is a Trisutto Certified Coach, a British Triathlon Federation Level 3 Coach and designed the Palm Paddle to help triathletes and swimmers develop their stroke.
  • Matt has been coaching for over 10 years; he is an ASA coach, an IRONMAN Certified Coach and is currently working with the Brett Sutton to become a Trisutto Certified Coach.
  • Matthieu is a Ergonomist posturologist university graduate engineer and fitness trainer specialising in cycling, triathlon and running
  • Michael is a level 3 British Triathlon and Level 3 British Cycling Coach working with the RAF Triathlon performance squad, Triathlon England Eastern Region Academy and Head Coach at MSquared
  • Neil is the Father of Dan Martin and uncle of Nicolas Roche and brother-in-law of Stephen Roche.
  • Pamela joined BEST Swim Centre in June 2016. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Pamela was National Champion 4 consecutive years from 2005-2008 as well as South American and Iberoamerican champion in 2005. Having retired from competing, Pamela began coaching triathletes and swimmers at the Italian DDS team. She also speaks excellent Spanish, Italian and English.
  • Paul raced for many years as a professional triathlete before racing as a semi-professional cyclist and time-triallist. He draws on his vast experience and colleagues who are experts in their own field to deliver up to date training methods, motivation, drive and psychology to help you achieve your goals. 
  • Phil is a coach for MyProCoach.net and works for Future Publishing Ltd as the Coaching Editor for Triathlon Plus magazine. Phil has a degree in Sports Science and has over 9 years of coaching experience.
