Running and Wine tasting holidays

Trails and Vines: Combining running & wine tasting for a perfectly balanced holiday

Founded by Chris and Abby, who are both equally passionate about running and wine, Trails and Vines holidays are set in some of the World’s most beautiful wine regions – a perfect location to challenge your running and then reward yourself with ample delicious local wine and food.

An average day starts with a delicious breakfast of homemade granola, local breads, fresh coffee and a beautiful view. The daily run will follow; every day is different, ranging from scenic runs through vineyards and local villages, to high intensity interval sets through the vines. You don’t need to worry about holding the group up, or not being challenged enough, as every session is tailored to you so everyone is equally challenged, this has led to the vast majority of past participants going home to achieve PBs. You will also have a 1-1 session with video analysis, so you can work on your technique, or discuss specific running goals with a qualified coach.

Afternoon activities vary, they include strength and conditioning sessions, lake-side picnics, visits to local towns or you can just relax with a glass of wine in the sunshine. Two winery visits are also included so you can learn about and enjoy the delicious wine they produce.

In the evening, the group comes together to share homemade delicious dinners and a couple of glasses of wine. Abby and Chris, both WSET Level 3 qualified, will guide you through the local wines they source with an in-house tasting. Two evenings during the week you will enjoy fantastic local food, in Rioja this includes a Pinchos Crawl where you work your way from one end of a street to the other, sampling the best local tapas and wine as you go!

If you want to improve your running but have a holiday too, a week with Trails and Vines is perfect for you!
