Running Forever - Press Release

Breathe new life into your running with Running Forever

Whether you want to take your running to the next level through expert coaching, recharge flagging motivation, solve a running niggle that’s been holding you back or take on a brand-new challenge, Running Forever can help you breathe new life into your running.

Running Forever is the new venture of well-known running expert and qualified coach Sam Murphy – author of three bestselling running books and a columnist for Runner’s World magazine – and her husband, accomplished runner and coach Jeff Pyrah.

‘Our passion is helping people to get more out of their running – not just PBs, although they can be important – but more fun, adventure and fulfilment. We want runners to create a lifetime habit,’ said Sam Murphy.

Running Forever offers a range of services, including weekend training retreats based at large country houses and boutique hotels, one- and two-day point-to-point running adventures, guided runs, educational workshops and online bespoke coaching.

Murphy and Pyrah have previous experience in leading running retreats in the French Alps and North Devon – but have based Running Forever’s menu of services in and around the medieval town of Rye, on the coastal border of Kent and East Sussex and just 90 minutes from London. ‘The running terrain here is fantastic – there is ancient woodland, rolling countryside and sandy beach within a stone’s throw. And this is our home turf, so we know all the best routes, views and refreshment stops!’ said Murphy.

About Running Forever retreats

Running Forever retreats are open to runners of all levels of ability, aspiration and experience. ‘Our aim is to strike the right balance between work, rest and play, so that you end each day feeling inspired and pleasantly fatigued rather than frustrated and exhausted!’ said Sam.

You can expect a mix of leisurely scenic runs and more targeted coached sessions alongside daily workshops on running form, practical nutrition, strength and conditioning, race preparation and recovery.

‘Because of our vast experience working with runners of different abilities and with very different motivations and challenges, we can help you make the improvements you seek. You will be treated as an individual, supported and challenged appropriately.’

Running Forever handpicks all its retreat venues for their great location and facilities. You can expect fantastic accommodation, delicious, nutritious food (and plenty of it!) and good company (many guests travel solo). ‘Whether you’re an old hand or a relative newcomer, we promise you a great running experience while you’re with us – and a suitcase full of fresh motivation and tips to try back home.’

Sam Murphy and Jeff Pyrah formed Running Forever Ltd in spring 2018 to offer retreats, running adventures, training workshops and bespoke coaching.

Sam Murphy is a well-known running expert and qualified coach with more than ten years’ experience helping runners achieve their goals through her one-to-one coaching, workshops and writing. She has penned three books on running, including the pioneering Run for Life, which sold over 200,000 copies and has now been translated into 14 languages, and writes the monthly Murphy’s Lore column for Runner’s World magazine. Sam has 17 marathons under her belt with a PB of 3.22 and has completed the 53-mile Highland Fling and 100-Mile Himalayan Stage Race.

Jeff Pyrah has been running since he was eight years old and loves helping others forge their own running habit. A junior international in orienteering, he loves trail running - winning The Grizzly, the North Downs Run and Beachy Head Marathon in 2013 and Centurion’s Wendover Woods 50-mile race in 2016. In 2018 he became the British Masters v45 Marathon Champion. He is a qualified running coach with expertise in performance, trail running and navigation.
