Puerto Pollensa Places of Interest

Staying in or close to Puerto Pollensa during your triathlon training camp or cycling holiday? Here we take a closer look at what is available to do or see on your time away from either triathlon or cycling training.

Puerto Pollensa is mainly a beach resort town.

It has 2 beaches for relaxing and where you can access water sports activities. You can find most of these activities at the surf and sail clubhouse, with parasailing from huts in front of the “Stay” restaurant.

Mallorca Cycling, Self Guided or Guided Camps?

Training "All by myself" ......... Guided or Self-Guided camps?

The cyclists we've talked with are split about 50/50 on this. For the new, inexperienced riders fully guided is sound advice. The island is just that, an island so you can't get too lost.

Mallorca Cycling Shops, Hints & Tips

We look at Hints and Tips for your cycling trip to Mallorca

If you fly with low cost airlines, there is likely to be an additional charge (probably £50 or more each way) to take your bike, with the added risk of damage to it. As Mallorca increases in popularity more and more bike hire shops are opening across the island offering a range of Road, MTB and Hybrid bikes (aluminium and carbon frames). As the shops need to become more competitive, so the quality of their bikes is getting better.

Mallorca Cycling Routes & Areas to stay

We look at areas you can stay which give you access to the best cycling routes and climbs

Where to base yourself?

Puerto Pollensa; probably has the biggest concentration of cycle friendly hotels for your own camps, cycle training companies and cycling tour operators. Groups of cyclists of all different levels meet at Tolo’s (on the coastal road just south of the main harbour); everyone is welcomed & the rides leave at 9am.

Pro Cycle Hire, possibly the oldest and most famous bike hire shop also offer rides out in the morning.

Alcudia; offers many cycle friendly hotels that have bike maintenance workshops, secure storage and regular organised rides. Just down the coast from Puerto Pollensa and is just as popular.

Mallorca Cycling Introduction

Who uses Mallorca? A little history

Back in 1996, Jonny Weltz, former US Postal team director, set up a European camp and put his cyclists into the Costa Brava, at Girona. The following year the team members began buying homes in Girona. It still remains home for David Millar, Dan Martin and about 70 other pro cyclists. Garmin-Slipstream has made this their “home” base and at one time Bradley Wiggins also lived here.
