The retreat programme

Every day includes a guided run on a scenic route – from rolling hills to country lanes, beach to boardwalk – with a longer run on Sunday morning (don’t worry, you will run at your pace, not someone else’s!). There is also a daily programme of coached sessions on everything from running form, pacing and trail skills to strength and core conditioning, nutrition, mental strategies and maximising recovery. Whether you’re an old hand or a relative newcomer, we promise you a great running experience while you’re with us – and a suitcase full of fresh motivation and tips to try back home.

The location

One of England’s best-preserved medieval towns, picturesque Rye perches atop a hill with the English Channel on one side and miles of countryside the other. All the town’s historic attractions, antique shops, pubs and cafes are within walking distance of the hotel and there are miles of footpaths within a stone’s throw. This is our home town, so we know all the best routes, views and refreshment stops! Non-running partners/friends are welcome to accompany you on the retreat for a reduced rate

The accommodation

The Hope Anchor hotel, a mid-18th century former inn, is situated in the heart of Rye’s old citadel, with far-reaching views. All 13 rooms – each unique in style – are well equipped and en-suite, and we have full and exclusive use of the public spaces including the cosy log lounge, bar and dining room. Free Wi-Fi and limited free parking. The hotel is rated 9.4 on Booking.com

The food

We’ve worked with the hotel chef to devise a delicious and nutritious menu featuring plenty of local produce and specifically timetabled to support your running and recovery. Every single one of the guests on our last retreat gave the food a score of ten out of ten. Your stay includes breakfast each day, lunch on Saturday and Sunday and a three-course dinner on Friday and Saturday, with a group meal out at a local restaurant on Sunday evening (at own cost). There’ll also be home-baked goodies to enjoy and keep those energy levels topped up!

This retreat runs from 3pm on Friday 4th October to 11am on Monday 7th October 2019.

What’s included?

  • Three nights’ accommodation at the Hope Anchor Hotel.
