The 1066 Trail Adventure

Company: Running Forever
Start Date: 06/07/2019
End Date: 07/07/2019
Sports: Running
Location: UK
Price from: £149

Come and join us on a two-day running adventure, following in the footsteps of William the Conqueror after he landed his troops at Pevensey and marched into the most famous battle of all time to claim rule of England in 1066. The 32-mile route, finishing in the beautiful medieval town of Rye, isn't just a march through history, it's a journey through rural Sussex, passing protected marshland alive with butterflies and birdsong, ancient woodland, sleepy villages, windmills and oasthouses.

Day one takes us from Pevensey Castle to Battle Abbey - a distance of around 17 miles with two scheduled refreshment stops (read: tea and cake) where our support vehicle will also be on hand with water top-ups and access to your bags. We'll stay overnight in a private lodge in the stunning grounds of Ashburnham Place (all private rooms - no single occupancy fee). Bring your swimming gear for a refreshing dip in the lake! Dinner and breakfast at Ashburnham is included. On day two, we resume our journey from Battle Abbey, covering a further 15 miles to reach Rye by mid-afternoon.

This is NOT a race - it's a chance to run a glorious route in good company, without worrying about getting lost or having to carry all your gear. The distance? Yes, it's a challenge, but anyone who's completed a half marathon fairly comfortably should be able to manage it. Get in touch if you want to chat further about your ability to participate. Or get a taste of what's in store by reading my blog here.

Limited to 12 places max.
