Summary

Richard is a qualified British Triathlon and British Cycling Coach as well as having a vast knowledge and expertise gained as an elite athlete (swimming and triathlon) and RAF Physical Training Instructor (whilst in the RAF he was part of the relay team who broke the world record for the Belgium to England Channel crossing and has completed numerous other channel swims).

His additional experiences as a lecturer in sports science and as a personal trainer (YMCA qualified) give him exceptional practical and theoretical knowledge. In addition to his coaching Richard still competes regularly in all disciplines and is the head Tri Coach for the local club “Triathlon Catalan”

Richard is also a certified raining Peaks coach.

Coaching

Richard adopts a fairly hands-on, supportive coaching approach with all athletes staying here. He provides expert coaching to help all triathletes improve both technically and physically across all three disciplines (swim, bike and run), through improving technique, by helping you understand basic bio-mechanics and teaching you to use your senses to train. He will help increase your understanding of each discipline both individually and as the “whole” sport of triathlon.

Coaches Commitment to Our Athletes:

"I approach each client as an individual, so no matter what your triathlon goal is, your needs will be provided for. I design each weeks programme around the athletes we have in and provide you with the most experienced and professional coaching possible, during your time with us.

We couple this a relaxed “downtime” environment, and take care of everything else so that you can just enjoy your triathlon training".

Richard also offer an on-line coaching service delivering custom training plans;

"It is a fully interactive, bespoke, web based plan, designed for you. 4 weeks is the minimum duration, but there is no upper limit, so if you wish to train for an Olympic distance and have identified around 10 hours a week for 30 weeks this would be possible. Or if you have already raced several 1/2 ironmans and have 12 weeks to prepare for an Ironman the plan would be written for this. You do not need to fit the plan, the Triathlon Training Plan is expertly designed to fit you".

Robin's philosophy is straight - Whether you are an Olympic athlete or starting out for the very first time, EVERYONE deserves the opportunity to improve their performance.

"Although coaching involves many components which helps lead to a specific  improvement in performance, to me it is still very important to make this process fun, challenging, stimulating, rewarding, satisfying and most importantly enjoyable, leaving individuals loving the process and wanting more. An individual’s motivation can move mountains and to be able to contribute and make a difference is a privilege".
