Summary

Romero has won world championships in both cycling and rowing; as a rower, she won a silver medal at the Athens 2004 Olympics in the quadruple sculls, and the following year was part of the British crew that won the 2005 World Championships in the quad sculls. Suffering from a persistent back injury, Romero retired from rowing in 2006.

Romero later took up track cycling, and made rapid progress in her new sport, specialising in track endurance events.

In December 2006, Romero won a silver medal in the pursuit at the UCI Track World Cup event in Moscow – her international cycling debut – losing out to fellow Briton Wendy Houvenaghel.

Romero won her first Cycling World Championships medal in March 2007 with silver in the 3 km pursuit.[7] The following year, at the 2008 UCI Track Cycling World Championships, held in Manchester, she won the individual and, (with Houvenaghel and Joanna Rowsell), team pursuit events.

She became the first British woman ever to compete in two different sports at the Olympic Games when she rode in the individual pursuit in Beijing. In winning the gold, she also became only the second woman of any country to win a medal in two different sports at Summer Games.

Romero was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2009 New Year Honours.

Rebecca has since competed in triathlon at the Ironman world championships in Hawaii

Before Richard’s success as a triathlete he competed in Windsurfing, trialling for the 1988 GB Olympic team. As a triathlete, Richard was part of the Great Britain team between 1988 and 1997. He was part of the Gold Medal European Championship team of 1992 and Gold Medal World’s team the year after.

Between 1991 and 1997, Richard was British Champion 5 times over the middle distance course. In 1995 he was highest placed British finisher in the World Ironman Championships, Hawaii.

Even though Richard’s main focus is TriLiving, he still competes in triathlon events, winning his age group category Ironman 70.3 UK and Lanzarote titles.

Coaching

Richard gained his B.Ed. (Hon) at the college of St. Mark and St. John in 1989 and has been a professional Triathlon coach since 1998, beginning his coaching career at the University of Bath.

He held this post until 2001 when he joined the British Triathlon Association as Assistant National performance coach. This new position was based at the University of Bath. He worked in some capacity with all World Class Performance Athletes. Richard was accountable for the performance centre.

In 2004 he was a Team GB Triathlon coach at the Athens Olympic Games.

Since 2005, Richard has based himself and his family in the Charente Maritime region of France, starting TriLiving and building upon its services. TriLiving is built around Richard’s philosophy that anyone of any age and ability can improve as long as the athlete himself believes this.

During this period he has organised and run annual triathlon training camps, usually based at Club La Santa, Lanzarote.

Also available from TriLiving are 4 week triathlon training plans, tailored to the individual’s aims, ability and time restrictions.

12 week training plans are also available; these aim to give the triathlete sufficient understanding of their training needs that, at the end of the 12 weeks, they can continue planning their own training.

The coaching was excellent and despite being seasoned runners we found it very informative and useful to have new input and ideas. We thought you handled the broad ability range very successfully so that no one was left out everyone felt included. We both thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would definitely come again

As a parent it is so refreshing to see Adam as such a positive role model and how committed he is to his sport, and I really appreciate the time he has taken out of his busy schedule - you all must have been exhausted by the end of the week. Meeting Adam and being coached by him really made Louis' summer and he enjoyed all the coaching both in and out of the pool. You have my full respect for allowing so many children the opportunity to experience these clinics.
