Summary

Dr Jonathan Baker's academic research has focused on the physiological determinants of endurance performance; and in particular the dynamic control of muscular energetics during exercise and how these processes influence high-intensity exercise tolerance.

Using this knowledge and his personal experiences of high performance cycling, he provides a range of sports science support services to both amateur and professional endurance athletes; some which have won national and European championships, and others have been selected to compete at the youth Olympic games and the World Championships.

I’ve just gone for a swim after another 1-2-1 swim coaching session from Karl and I’m delighted to report that I feel like a completely different swimmer! My swim felt effortless and smooth; the opposite from how it used to feel before I received Karl’s coaching. Karl clearly explained to me the areas in which I needed to improve and gave me exercises and drills to work on. By putting into practice what Karl told me I am seeing a huge difference in my swimming. I recommend Karl to anyone looking to improve their swimming, particularly for triathlons. Will be booking another session to have in a few weeks time.

I have been on many training camps run by Steve Lloyd and have loved each any every one. All have provided a great environment for training hard and having fun. Swimming, running, conditioning and stretching routines are all really good, but it is the biking which is just the best and I am always amazed how quickly my bike fitness and handling improves over a week. Equally importantly, I have a great holiday with good company. I don’t need to look anywhere else for a training camp.

I had a great time living full-time triathlete life for a week! The camp was very technique focussed, varied, and adapted to different levels. The hotel is in a great location, with safe storage for bikes and plenty of good food. Definitely a must for any triathlete looking to build technique and fitness before the season!

A great training camp, for me, is a blend of environment, coaching and company. This one works for me, and I am re-booking. There are choices out there, many also good, but when you get that mix just right, well, it works, so you go back. Big year next year and this will help greatly.

These training camps have enhanced my love for triathlon and provided me with amazing skills, training, friendships and experiences which I can walk away from the camps knowing I’ve had an amazing time and looking to when I can go again. Excellent coaching which aims to emphasise having fun while completing the training is perfect for these training camps. Some of my best memories from the sport are from these camps, I cannot recommend them enough.
